Sales always require a right person having right skills. It can’t be considered as an easy task to sell. A successful sales person should own right sales expertise along with experience. Sometimes people aren’t able to develop right abilities after a vast experience. Because they don’t bother to learn from their mistakes. A good and successful salesman always learn from their mistakes and increase the chances of improvements.

There are some common sales mistakes implemented by various sales persons.
  • Sales people try to offer their product or services instead of providing the solutions. Demonstrating a problem is not an approach close a deal. The best approach is to be a problem solver or solution provider.
  • Sometimes the sales person is dependent on their presentation file. No doubt that presentation file is important in sales but the presenter should be independent.
  • The salesperson isn't taking client’s feedback regarding their product or services. It seems they just want to close a deal instead of developing a trust level. This is also known as communication flaw.
  • It has been observed that clients are being offered any free trail without any business commitment. It should be offered after complete discussion and prospect’s satisfaction.
  • A right approach to the wrong person is not a sign of a successful sale. If a salesperson is dealing with admin department but the decision maker is operations. In such situation deal will be difficult to close.
  • Clients are not getting a proper follow-up from their sales person. If a salesperson is unable to follow clients, it will be difficult to close the deal. Some free email tracking software can solve this problem easily.


Sales mistakes create problems for business as well as for the sales person too. Therefore, they should be avoided and aligned with marketing efforts for success.
